COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to ensure a quality presentation of the skills needed to maintain, service, and repair the Law Enforcement Handgun as well as the M4/M16/AR weapon systems. This is an intense armorer course, as students will learn to fully disassemble, to include gas tube and barrel removal, and then build their weapon system back from scratch.

 Topics Include: 

• Overview and course introduction
• Field Stripping of the LE Handgun
• Frame disassembly
• Preventative maintenance
• Frame assembly
• Common replacement parts
• Full slide and firing pin disassembly
• Reassembly
• Magazine inspection and spring replacement
• Field Stripping of the M-4/M-16 Weapon System
• Further disassembly-Upper and Lower receivers
• Internal parts inspection
• Common parts needing Repair and Replacement
• Barrel removal using a Torque wrench
• Reassembly
• Building an M-4/M-16 Weapon System
• Function testing
• Parts interchangeability
• Performance & customization

 

INSTRUCTIONAL GOAL: To instill professional skills, techniques, and basic concepts of the function of the LE Handgun as well as the M-4/M16/AR Type weapon systems.  Each student will leave this course with the knowledge and skills necessary in order to repair, replace parts, and conduct an overall weapon system check to ensure the weapon is functionalized for issue and everyday service.
