John Dunay is a retired Police Lieutenant from the Dunellen Police Department in the State of New Jersey, and brings with him twenty-seven years of law enforcement experience. John started his career with the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office in New Jersey, where he served as the Chief Court Officer for the County Court. As a trained Hostage Negotiator, John also served as the Team Leader for the Middlesex County Hostage Recovery Team, as well as an Adjunct Firearms Instructor for the New Jersey Department of Justice, where he conducted Train-the-Trainer classes on Assault Weapons and Tactics. After leaving the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, John joined the Dunellen Police Department, where he worked his way through the ranks to become the Senior Lieutenant and second in charge of the department, responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the police department. While working as a Police Officer, John received commendations from the Dunellen Boro for “Actions taken during Hurricane Floyd”, and from the Middlesex County Board of Freeholders for “Actions taken at the World Trade Center during 9/11”. After retiring from the Dunellen Police Department, John accepted a position with Blackwater USA, to work security during the Katrina Hurricane disaster. John later accepted a position with MPRI as a Senior mentor for the Civilian Police Assistance Training Team in Iraq, where he was instrumental in assisting the Iraqi Police establish Democratic Police Training Centers throughout Iraq, and trained their instructional staff to be certified Police Instructors.
